Pathum Nissanka kept the Sri Lankan innings together and he was expected to go berserk in the slog overs but a spectacular catch evaded him from doing so. Zahoor Khan was bowling the last over of the innings and Nissanka was facing the penultimate delivery after scoring a half-century.

The delivery was bowled into the slot and the batter tried to clear mid-off, hoping it would sail past over the fielder placed at the edge of the 30-yard circle. However, he lacked the elevation required for the shot and it created a half-chance for Basil Hameed.

Sri Lanka roared back in style by pinning down UAE as the middle-east contingent was reeling at 39/6 after 11 overs, largely courtesy of some exhibition fast bowling from their pacers Pramod Madushan and Dushmantha Chameera. Bowling the sixth over, Madushan delivered a length third ball to Chirag Suri tempting him into a slog. The opener cleared his leg and attempted to heave the ball over the leg side but the pace rattled him for good.
