The third day of the ongoing Nottingham Test between England and India saw more action than what we got yesterday. Despite some passing showers and both teams battelled it out in the first two sessions before the rain washed out the major chunk of the final session.
India was 125/4 overnight with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant in the middle. Both batsmen looked to score runs and Pant perished in that process. Ravindra Jadeja came out to share a crucial stand with Rahul. They shared 60 runs for the sixth wicket and gave India a handy lead. Rahul got out to James Anderson, giving him his 620th Test wicket, after making fluent 84 runs with the bat.

Jadeja then shifted gears to score his personal fifty. He was farming the strike well and scored boundaries on every given opportunity. His vigil came to an end after scoring 56 runs in just 86 balls, where he hit six fours and one towering six.
India’s tail, for a change, wag and wagged a to score crucial runs. Mohammed Shami scored 13 runs but it was Jasprit Bumrah who stole the show. He remained composed during his stay at the crease and scored 33 bonus runs for his team. Bumrah got out after scoring stroke-filled 28 runs in 34 balls, where he hit three fours and one six.
Ollie Robinson made an instant impact in his comeback game after being suspended for his tweets. He grabbed his maiden five-wicket haul and registered the figures of 5/85. Meanwhile, James Anderson became the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of Test cricket as he eclipsed Anil Kumble with the wicket of KL Rahul. Anderson ended the innings with a four-fer and India got all-out for 278.

England openers looked steady in the second innings. They survived a short-burst before the tea break. However, there wasn’t much play after the team break as rain interrupted the play. The rain died down but it returned before the game could begin again. England were 25/0 in the second innings and still 70 runs behind at the time of stumps.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the third day’s play;

Formidable lead for #TeamIndia after some important runs added by the tail.
It’ll be interesting to see how England respond after being behind.
By the way, @Jaspritbumrah93 just played the shot of his life today. 😀#ENGvIND
