BCCI announced India’s home schedule 2018/19, CoA will decided India’s day/night Test future

While the other most top cricketing nations have already organised the day-night Test at least once, India has not yet started that. Well, it is believing that India might organise a day-night Test match in this calendar year. Now, BCCI interim secretary Amitabh Choudhary said that the day-night Test can possible in India only if the SC-appointed CoA approved.

On Saturday, BCCI had a meeting to fix the venues and dates for India’s home series in the 2018/19 season.

Talking about that meeting, BCCI interim secretary told to ANI, “Today’s meeting was essentially to fix venues and dates for India’s home series beginning with West Indies and concluding with Australia. The venues for the matches with West Indies and Australia were also decided.”

Talking about that home schedules, Choudhary began with the one-off Afghanistan Test by quoting, The committee approved the India-Afghanistan inaugural Test match in Bangalore from June 14 to June 18.”

At next, Choudhary described the Windies tour of India where the visitors will play two Tests, five ODIs and three T20Is. He stated, “The venues for two Test matches against West Indies have been decided yet as Rajkot (4-8 October) and Hyderabad (12-16th October). The five ODI venues are Mumbai (21st Oct), Indore (24th Oct), Guwahati (27 Oct), Pune (29 Oct) and Trivandrum.

“The three T-20 games with the West Indies will be at Kolkata, UP (Kanpur or Lucknow) and Chennai. The dates for T20 matches are 4, 6 and 11 November.”

After that, Choudhary also spoke about the Australia tour of India for 5 ODIs and 2 T20Is. He said, “The home series with Australia consists of 5 ODI’s and two T20I games. The venues for ODI’s are Mohali, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Delhi and Ranchi. The dates respectively are 24th, 27th of February and 2nd, 5th and 8th of March. The two T20I games with Australia will be on 10th and 13th of March at Vizag and Bangalore respectively.”

Choudhary also spoke out about organising the day-night Test match in India. Talking about that, he commented, “The committee considered the proposal of converting one of the two Test matches into a day-night Test match. We considered the viewpoint of all the stakeholders and the view was unanimous on favouring this experiment.

“However, the decision was not taken today. The only decision taken today was to send recommendations to the COA. The day-night Test match will happen only when CoA approves.”
