The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Annual Player Contracts for Team India (Senior Men) on Thursday for the period from October 2020 to September 2021. According to the BCCI press release, the payment structures has been divided into four categories where the Grade A+ contract earning players will get ₹7 crore, Grade A earning players will get ₹5 crore, Grade B earning players will get ₹3 crore, and Grade C earning players will get ₹1 crore for that time period.
A total number of 28 players have been given the central contracts. Notably, India captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain Rohit Sharma, and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah have been retained in the A+ category list as well. On the other hand, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have been placed under Grade A contract.

For the Grade B contract, wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, pace bowlers Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshar Kumar, and Shardul Thakur and opening batsman Mayank Agarwal have been placed. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar, Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj have been placed under Group C.

It is also noteworthy that Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj have earned the Grade C contract alongside Axar Patel whereas allrounder Kedar Jadhav and Manish Pandey – the two Grade C white-ball players have not been included in the central contract now. India’s leg-spin duo – Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have slipped down in the contract of Grade C as well.
