Indian journalist Boria Majumdar has received a ban of a couple of years from the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) after being adjudged guilty by the board’s three-member committee (including BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla, Treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal and Apex Council Member Prabhtej Singh Bhatia) for threatening the Indian wicket-keeper batter, Wriddhiman Saha.

As per the reports of Indian Express, a BCCI official said, “We will be informing all state units of the Indian cricket board to not allow him inside stadiums. He won’t be given media accreditation for home matches and we will also be writing to ICC to blacklist him. Players will be asked not to engage with him.”

In February, Saha, a centrally contracted played by the BCCI, had tweeted a screenshot of a message received by a “respected” journalist on WhatsApp after he was dropped from the Indian Test team for home series against Sri Lanka. In the screenshot, the journalist in question had requested him for an interview, to which Saha did not respond.

The development was confirmed by ANI, who tweeted: “BCCI issues order to ban journalist Boria Majumdar for two years for intimidating cricketer Wriddhiman Saha.”

“I have told the committee everything I know. I have shared all the details with them. I can’t tell you much right now. BCCI has asked me not to talk about the meeting outside as they will answer all your queries,” he had said after the interrogation.

BCCI has now officiated its ruling and has banned Boria Majumdar for a couple of years from interviewing any registered players in India. Apart from this, he is also banned from getting accreditation as a member of the press in any of the cricket matches in India. Also, he will be banned from accessing any BCCI or member associations owned cricket facilities.
