Recently, there were reports taking rounds that the Committee of Administrators (CoA) and the BCCI are looking to write a letter to put forward to International Cricket Council (ICC) on banning Pakistan from the impending World Cup 2019, scheduled to be taking place in England and Wales, a board official clarified that ICC is bound to reject the appeal. Also, according to one of the sources of Times Now in BCCI has revealed that India is unlikely to find support if ICC puts forward the letter for a vote by the board members.
On February 14, the cowardly terrorist attack in Pulwama left the Indian people in utter shock as it led to more than 40 CRPF troopers losing their lives. While the diplomatic tensions between the two nations once again escalated, there has been a nationwide protest for boycotting the scheduled India-Pakistan clash in the World Cup on June 16 at the Old Trafford.

However, talking to PTI, one of the BCCI officials has clarified that ICC is unlikely to cater to such heeds of banning Pakistan from the World Cup. He said, “There is absolutely no constitutional or contractual way this could happen. the ICC constitution allows members the right to participate in ICC events as long as they’re qualified.’
Amid the outrage all over India on the slated clash, BCCI and CoA are scheduled to have a meeting on Friday to seek advice from the Home Ministry, Sports Ministry and Ministry of External Affairs in drawing a conclusion on India’s cricketing ties with Pakistan. Describing the same, the CoA member, Diana Edulji said, “We will discuss all possible options tomorrow and do what is best for the country.”
Describing the issues further, a top BCCI source also mentioned PTI that if a vote is taken on BCCI’s appeal in front of member boards, then India is unlikely to find support in this regard.
He explained, “In case India writes to ICC for Pakistan’s removal, then we have to build consensus first to move a resolution at it’s Annual Board Meeting in April. We no longer enjoy a majority in the ICC board right now. If this goes for floor Test we are certain to lose. Not only that, serious doubts will emerge on our chances to host the 2021 Champions Trophy and 2023 World Cup.”
