English all-rounder Ben Stokes was arrested by the police due to a demoralizing incident in Bristol. According to ESPNCricinfo, he got busted for fighting with a member of the public during England’s win in the third ODI, in which he scored 73.

Stokes was in lock-up for a night’s time but released without charge. Alex Hales was with the all-rounder during the incident. England Cricket Board chief Andrew Strauss will soon be delivering a statement regarding the same in order to elaborate on the incident.

The reports also suggest that English opener Hales is assisting the police in all investigations. It as also been heard that both the players will not play in the final games despite being named in the XI for all three ODIs so far, one of which was washed out.

ECB released a short statement on the issue saying, “Stokes was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning, 25 September, following an incident in Bristol, He was held overnight and released under investigation – without charge – and will not join the team in London. Hales who was with Stokes on Sunday night did not train this morning and has returned voluntarily to Bristol today to help Police with their enquiries.”

Earlier in 2012, Stokes had faced disciplinary action over his behavior when he was arrested on a night out and received a caution from the police. Again in 2013, he was sent home from an England Lions tour over late-night drinking. He also missed the 2014 World T20 as he broke his hand when punching a locker.
