When you look at the history of the sport, Australia is the most successful country. They are actually ahead of England by 1 when it comes to World Cup titles. India
India is probably the country with the most dedicated players in the world and some of the biggest names include Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. Cricket is one of the most popular sports in India and they will always have a spot among the best teams considering the potential they have. They have been struggling against New Zealand for a while now, but they are on a great way to getting the World Cup title.
Pakistan
With the currency fifth spot on the ICC Men’s ladder, Pakistan had some great matches in the cup finals. They were the champions in 1991 but they managed to be the winner of the World T20 in 2009. They usually focus on creating young teams that will bring some type of change to the game which has turned out to be a great strategy many times.
Bangladesh
The Bangladesh team can’t be compared to India, England, or New Zealand when it comes to trophies but they are in the top 10 teams of all time. They’ve got a nickname after Bengal Tiger which can also represent their type of play. Pakistan managed to beat them in the Asia 2012 Cup but Bangladesh has proven to be a worthy opponent.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is the smallest country on the list but it managed to bring some of the most talented players in the game. They are currently 7th on the ICC rankings and they actually managed to get a World Cup title in 1996. Besides being the Cup winners, they have other trophies like T20 Cup in 2014 and ICC Champions in 2002.
Afghanistan
Afghanistan will always be remembered for the highest score in international matches against Ireland. The match was played in 2019 and the score was 278:3. They had slow progress during the past decade and their biggest accomplishment was the qualifications for the World Cup and the first win against all odds versus Scotland.
West Indies
West Indies is between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on the ICC rankings. They had one of the best teams in the world in the 70s. They have a few champions and titles including T20 Cup in 2016 and 2012 and the ICC Trophy in 2004. They are trying to gain the success they had in the 70s and they improved a lot during the past few years.
