RCB registered a thrilling win over MI

Defending champions RCB were powered by a sensational four-wicket spell from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and a composed half-century from Krunal Pandya as they chased down a tricky target of 166 in dramatic fashion. On a hard black-soil surface that offered uneven bounce and movement, Bhuvneshwar immediately put the Mumbai Indians under pressure after Rajat Patidar elected to bowl first.

The veteran seamer removed Ryan Rickelton early before deceiving Rohit Sharma with a clever knuckleball after the MI opener had attacked Josh Hazlewood with two boundaries. Bhuvneshwar then delivered the biggest blow by dismissing stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav for a golden duck, leaving Mumbai struggling inside the PowerPlay.

Tilak played a mature innings, mixing smart placement with calculated aggression to register a gritty half-century and push MI past the 150-run mark. However, Bhuvneshwar returned to clean him up with a pinpoint yorker, preventing Mumbai from finishing strongly.

RCB’s chase also got off to a shaky start as Deepak Chahar struck twice early, dismissing Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. Corbin Bosch further tightened the contest when he removed Rajat Patidar cheaply, shifting momentum back towards Mumbai.

Krunal Pandya then stepped up under pressure with one of his finest IPL knocks. Promoted up the order, the left-hander countered the spinners brilliantly with sweeps and powerful straight hits while battling cramps throughout his innings. Even after Bosch triggered another collapse with three crucial wickets, Krunal held his nerve to keep RCB in the hunt.

With tension building in the final over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar fittingly sealed the win with a crucial six, completing a memorable all-round performance and effectively ending Mumbai Indians’ hopes of reaching the IPL 2026 playoffs.
