The Haryana born all-rounder Deepak Hooda is not only an explosive middle-order batsman but also an accurate off-spinner. He also belongs to India’s impressive 2014 batch of Under-19 cricketers. He was born in Rohtak, but had an excellent first season of First-Class cricket with Baroda, scoring two centuries and two fifties and finishing the season with a 50-plus average. Though he did not bowl much for Baroda, a five-wicket haul against Pakistan in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup was an indication of his handy bowling prowess.

Hooda came into the limelight during the 8th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Playing for Rajasthan Royals, he scored a 15-ball 30 against a bowling attack comprising of Mitchell Johnson, Sandeep Sharma, Anureet Singh, Akshar Patel, and Karanveer Singh on debut. But it was in his next match that he announced himself as when he came to bat at 78 for 4 with 107 runs remaining in under 10 overs, Hooda ran through the Delhi Daredevils bowling attack that included Nathan Coulter-Nile, Imran Tahir, Angelo Mathews, Amit Mishra, and Jaydev Unadkat. His 25-ball 54 ensured Royals won off the last ball.

However, in the ongoing season of the IPL, Hooda has been plying his trade for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), but he has been failed to prove his worth barring the game against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in which he was unbeaten in the end still his team ended on a losing side. He got to bowl in just one game against Delhi Capitals (DC) and again he failed to make an impact.

SRH will be playing their next game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on super Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
