The ongoing eighth season of the Big Bash League (BBL) has been lying between spectacular and phenomenal. Right from the off, which saw bat-flip replace coin toss, the tournament has given fans and spectators more than enough moments to cherish. On Sunday, during the 36th match of the ongoing edition between Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat, Brendon McCullum pulled an effort out of nowhere which has arguably become the highlight of the tournament so far.

McCullum was fielding at long-on in the 17th over of Sixers’ innings, produced an unbelievable fielding effort near the boundary line to stop a sure-short six.

Sixers’ James Vince sweetly connected the ball of the middle of his bat, and the ball looked set to just cross the boundary. But McCullum tried to catch the ball and result in a wicket for his team. He was right on the edge of the boundary line and realized the catch couldn’t be completed and the ball will go for a six.

Yet, somehow, despite being horrendously unbalanced, McCullum managed to defy the laws of gravity, managed to save the boundary with his acrobatic effort.

Here is the video of the same:

A similar, though much different, fielding effort was witnessed earlier in the BBL season when a fan, during the 29th match of this season between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades, almost pulled off a screamer. In the 15th over, Brisbane Heat’s Chris Lynn hit a massive six straight down the ground. His effort was brilliant, but what followed was beyond words!

A fan, sitting in the stands, ran from his seat and attempted to catch the ball near the sightscreen. He showed great flexibility and nearly pulled off a spectacular, but just at the last moment, slipped. Still, it earned him a mention in BBL’s official Twitter account.
