Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma had an eventful outing in his maiden innings for the franchise during their IPL 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. While his stay at the crease was brief, it was enough to make an impact—both on the scoreboard and off the field.

Walking in at No. 6 after Liam Livingstone’s dismissal in the 16th over, Jitesh wasted no time in announcing his arrival. He launched Noor Ahmad for a six off just his second delivery and followed it up with a boundary off Matheesha Pathirana in the next over. However, his promising cameo was cut short when he mistimed a slower ball from Khaleel Ahmed in the 18th over, departing for 12 off six balls.

As he walked back to the pavilion, the stadium DJ played the viral “Dosa, Idli, Sambar, Chutney” song, a choice that didn’t go unnoticed. The selection of the track was likely a cheeky response to Jitesh’s pre-match comments, where he appeared to mock Chennai’s culture in a South Indian accent.

His remarks had already stirred controversy among CSK fans, with many accusing him of disrespect. Despite the off-field drama, RCB put up a competitive 196/7, courtesy of Rajat Patidar’s 51 off 32 balls and Noor Ahmad’s impressive three-wicket haul, earning him the Purple Cap.

CSK, however, found themselves struggling in the chase, losing four wickets inside the first 10 overs. With the pressure mounting, the responsibility now lies on Rachin Ravindra to steer them home, but he’ll need strong support from his teammates to pull off a comeback.
