After losing the recent five-match Test series in England by the 4-1 margin, many experts have raised the voice against the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri. Now, the former Indian cricketer and the present minister for youth and sports of Uttar Pradesh, Chetan Chauhan has raised his voice against the national team head coach.

While India’s next international full cricket tour will be in Australia in this November, where India will play three-match T20I series, four-match Test series and three-match ODI series, Chauhan wants Ravi Shastri should be removed from the head coach role prior to that tour.

Chauhan said, “Ravi Shastri should be removed as head coach before the Australia tour. Ravi Shastri is very good cricket commentator and he should be allowed to do so.”

Indian cricket team started well their recent England tour with the 2-1 victory in the T20I series. But then, they lost the ODI series by 2-1 and then they suffered the Test series defeat by the 4-1 margins.

Chauhan believes that the Indian cricket team should have performed better in that England tour as he felt both teams were evenly matched.

The former Indian cricketer said, “Team India should have performed better. Both the teams were evenly matched. But the Indian team failed to check tail enders of England.”

Recently, even after losing the Test series in England, Shastri defended the present Indian cricket team by comparing them with the other past Indian cricket teams’ performances at overseas.

Shastri said on that occasion, “If you look at the last three years, we won nine matches overseas and three series. I can’t see any other Indian team in the last 15-20 years who have had that kind of run in such a short time.”

However, Chauhan hit him back by saying that he doesn’t agree with that view. He also mentioned the time when the Indian cricket team was the best travelling team in the world.

Chauhan said, “I do not agree. In 1980s, the Indian team was the best travelling team in the world.”

Currently, Rohit Sharma leading Indian cricket team has travelled to United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in the 2018 Asia Cup, where Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been rested. Chauhan believes that the Indian team should achieve a better result in this tournament as the team is well balanced with the experienced and the young players.
