Chris Gayle completes 4000 runs in the IPL during their game against RR

The 12th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) has started with a bang as there have been matches which became the nail biters one. However, Chris Gayle has a great relationship with IPL as he has been performing well since it’s beginning. However, in the first match of the 2019 IPL edition, Gayle scored a brilliant knock against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

He smashed eight fours and four maximums in his 47-ball 79. He scored 26 runs in 8 balls against Jaydev Unadkat and 23 off 11 against Ben Stokes. His knock made the foundation for the Kings XI Punjab’s decent competitive total of 184/4 in 20 overs.

While Chris Gayle was on six, he completed 4000 IPL runs and became the only 2nd overseas player and overall the 9th player to score 4000 runs in the league. Sunrisers Hyderabad opener and former captain David Warner was the first overseas player to reach the feat in the 2017 edition. However, Gayle became the quickest player among the nine players to complete 4000 IPL runs. He reached the milestone in 112 innings while David Warner took 114 innings to do so.

Earlier, he was also the quickest to 2000 and 3000 IPL runs as he achieved the milestones in 49 innings and 76 innings respectively. Virat Kohli is the quickest player among Indians to score 4000 IPL runs as he took 128 innings. He was the also the fastest player to reach the 4000-run mark in the IPL. The other six players took 140 and more innings to reach the milestone.
