Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced another jaw-dropping performance in IPL 2026 as the Rajasthan Royals teenager demolished Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator with a breathtaking 97 off just 29 balls. The 15-year-old sensation lit up Mullanpur with one of the most explosive knocks in IPL playoff history, smashing 12 towering sixes and five boundaries to leave fans and cricket legends stunned.

Although Sooryavanshi narrowly missed out on a deserved century, his innings rewrote the record books. The RR opener surpassed Chris Gayle’s long-standing record for the most sixes in a single IPL season, racing to 65 maximums and eclipsing Gayle’s tally of 59 set in 2015. The ‘Universe Boss’ himself was left impressed by the youngster’s fearless batting display.
“What a phenomenal player Vaibhav is. Great entertainment young man! New six machine,” Gayle posted on social media after the match.

Sooryavanshi later revealed that he was unaware of the fastest IPL century record during his innings and remained focused solely on helping Rajasthan post the biggest possible total.

“I got to know after the game. My focus was on hitting sixes and scoring maximum runs for the team. Centuries will come in the future,” the teenager said during the post-match presentation.
India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav also praised the young batter for his fearless approach and maturity under pressure. Taking to social media, Suryakumar described Sooryavanshi as a “star in the making” after the sensational innings.
While the teenager stole the spotlight with the bat, Jofra Archer ensured Rajasthan Royals completed a dominant performance with the ball. The England pacer ripped through the SRH top order, dismissing Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Ishan Kishan during a fiery powerplay spell.
