CK Khanna, the acting BCCI President, said that the Board will definitely asses the tour scheduling of Team India after Virat Kohli claims India’s future tour programs are ‘cramped’. He also insists board members to take a call on three back-to-back series in short time.

“Virat is the Indian captain and his view point on cricketing matters should be taken with utmost seriousness. We are proud how the team is performing but if players are feeling fatigued, we need to have a broader view on the issue,” Khanna said.

He further added “I think we should analyse if it is a good option to have three back-to-back series with hardly any break for the players. The matter should be taken up at an appropriate forum. It will be great if this can also be included in the agenda for the December 9, Special General Meeting.”

Team India is playing non-stop cricket since the Indian Premier League which was followed by the ICC Champions Trophy. Afterwards India visited the Caribbean before hosting Australia and New Zealand in home series.

India usually organizes home series in the window of October-December. And, India planned to play Pakistan in November-December on home and away basis till 2023. But as the bilateral cricketing ties have been closed between the nations, this slot is still vacant. That’s why the Board of Control for Cricket in India invites teams accordingly to play in India.

A senior BCCI member revealed “The two series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka were replacement slots for the Pakistan series. Only the Australia series was in the Futures Tours and Programmes because as per our MoU with CA, the Test and limited overs series will be separate tours when the two countries tour each other.”
