A light-hearted moment involving Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Kumar Reddy has gone viral during India’s ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan. The incident took place ahead of the second ODI in Lucknow, giving fans a glimpse of the strong camaraderie within the Indian dressing room. India have already taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after securing a comfortable seven-wicket victory in the opening ODI.

As the team prepared for the next fixture, Jaiswal and Nitish were spotted leaving the team hotel in India’s newly unveiled travel kit. However, it was Jaiswal’s playful reaction to Nitish’s late arrival that caught everyone’s attention. The young opener was seen waiting near the team vehicle and jokingly expressed his frustration after the all-rounder kept him waiting.
“Das minute se gaadi mai baitha hun. Time se aa jaya kar yaar. Dekh kya time ho raha hai,” Yashasvi Jaiswal said with a smile, telling Nitish that he had been sitting in the car for the last ten minutes and urging him to be more punctual.

The banter did not end there. Continuing the joke, Yashasvi Jaiswal playfully offered special treatment to his teammate by opening the car door for him. “Darwaza kholta hun mai tere liye,” he said before opening the door and welcoming Nitish into the vehicle.
Nitish Kumar Reddy gets a little late, and then Yashasvi Jaiswal teases him, saying, ‘Bro, I’ve been waiting for you in the car for the last 10 minutes.’ Jaiswal even opens the car door for him and says, ‘Come on, I’m even opening the door for you.🤣❤️🔥

The friendly exchange quickly became a hit among cricket fans, highlighting the relaxed atmosphere within the Indian camp as the team looks to seal the series against Afghanistan.
While Jaiswal has been travelling with the squad, he is still awaiting his opportunity in the playing XI. The left-handed batter was not part of India’s original squad for the ODI series but was drafted in after Virat Kohli suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final and was ruled out of the tour.

Despite earning a late call-up, Jaiswal did not feature in the first ODI. India opted to stick with Rohit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill at the top of the order, while Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer occupied the No. 3 and No. 4 positions respectively. The team management is expected to retain the same batting combination for the second ODI. However, if India clinch the series in Lucknow, there could be opportunities for fringe players in the final match in Chennai.
Jaiswal will certainly be eager for a chance to impress. The talented opener last played an ODI against South Africa in December 2025, where he scored an unbeaten 116. Despite that memorable century, he has yet to cement a regular place in India’s ODI setup. In four ODI appearances so far, Jaiswal has accumulated 171 runs at an impressive average of 57, underlining the potential he brings whenever given an opportunity.
