There was a news in the centre that the former Australian Test opener Justin Langer is set to become the next head coach of Australian cricket team. However, Cricket Australia totally denied that news as they claimed that no appointment has been made yet.

West Australia had a report on Wednesday where they claimed that Justin Langer will be appointed as the next head coach of Australian cricket team and the CA will announce that officially on Friday.

However, later, CA reacted on that news where they claimed that the news was false as no appointment has been made yet.

A CA spokesperson quoted in a statement, “The process to be undertaken for the appointment of a new Australian men’s head coach will be discussed and agreed at the CA board meeting this Friday.

“No appointment has been made, and nor will any candidate be put to the board for ratification on Friday. We expect to have a clearer understanding of the approach and appointment timelines following this meeting.”

The recent ball-tampering scandal has shaken the Australian cricket heavily where skipper Steven Smith and vice-captain David Warner have been suspended by CA for one year from international and domestic cricket. Also, the 25-year-old Cameron Bancroft, who tried to alter the condition of the ball, has been suspended for nine months from international and domestic cricket.

Later, the Australian cricket team head coach Darren Lehmann stepped down from his role after the completion of that controversial four-match Test series against the hosts South Africa.

Now CA has to find out a head coach for this broken team. 47-year-old Justin Langer has some good experiences in coaching as he has coached Western Australia and Big Bash League team Perth Scorchers since 2012.

After making a debut in international cricket in 1993, Langer had played total 105 Tests and 8 ODIs before his international retirement in 2007.

Presently, Langer is also on the board of West Coast Eagles football club. Recently, when he was asked about whether he has the interest to take the role of head coach for the national team, he revealed that it would be difficult for him to take that important role.

He has commented to PearthNow, “If the opportunity came up, there would be a lot to consider. The complication is that I love my job. I love my job here. I love being on the board of the West Coast Eagles (football team). I love being with my family all the time.

“(Coaching Australia) would mean (travelling) 11 months of the year. I love working at WACA, and working with the Scorchers. My family is all in Perth. I am a Perth boy and I love being home. So that’s why it is complicated. I’m also involved with five or six charities here in WA. And walking away from all that is not that easy to do.”
