The recent devastating attack on India’s CRPF Army in Pulwama left the country stunned. Everyone is mourning the loss of India along with raising the voice to cut off Pakistan in every way. In this order, Cricket Club of India (CCI) has decided to remove the portrait of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. The CCI is an affiliated body of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Brabourne Stadium is home of the club.

The Cricket Club of India is a cricketing hub in India and the entire premise adorns the portrait of several great cricketers from different eras. Imran Khan is one of them, who led Pakistan to their maiden World Cup winning campaign in 1992 under his leadership.

”We called a meeting on the very next day of the attack & to condemn the attack, we decided to cover the photo. We’ll be deciding soon how to remove the photo,” said CCI Secretary Suresh Bafna.

“See, CCI is a sports-club and we have photographs of past and present cricketers from all countries. We wanted to show, in our way – displeasure – on whatever is happening right now. It is a mark of protest.  We have covered it as of now but can’t say right now if we would take it down,” CCI president Premal Udani had said earlier.

In the past, Imran has twice played for Pakistan against India at the Brabourne Stadium. He had lead Pakistan in a festival game against India in 1987. He has also played an ODI at the venue when he led Pakistan to victory against Australia in a Nehru Cup game in 1989, where he was also declared as the man of the match.

On Thursday, over 40 CRPF soldiers were killed in a terror attack while several other troops are battling for their lives. This attack is termed as the most horrifying terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in the last three decades. Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed the full responsibility for this attack.
