As Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar turned 52, the cricketing world came together to celebrate the birthday of one of the most iconic figures the sport has ever known. Tendulkar’s cricketing journey is nothing short of extraordinary. Making his Test debut at just 16 against Pakistan in November 1989, he followed it up with his ODI debut a month later. Over the next two decades, Sachin amassed an unmatched 34,357 international runs in 664 appearances, with a batting average of 48.52.

He remains the only cricketer to score 100 international centuries — 49 in ODIs and 51 in Tests — and the first to notch a double hundred in ODIs. In the ODI format, he collected 18,426 runs, while his Test tally stood at 15,921 — both records that stood tall for years.

No cricketer has played more Test matches than Tendulkar, who featured in a staggering 200 games. His crowning moment came in 2011 when he lifted the ICC Cricket World Cup — a dream that had eluded him since his debut World Cup in 1992.

On social media platform X, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extended warm wishes to the ‘Master Blaster’. Yuvraj Singh’s post stood out for its emotional resonance: “He was my childhood hero before he even knew my name… But what stayed with me wasn’t just his greatness. It was his grace… You didn’t just play the game. You taught us how to carry ourselves through it.”

Harbhajan Singh praised Tendulkar’s humility and discipline, calling him a symbol of excellence and inspiration both on and off the field. Meanwhile, Suresh Raina described him as an eternal legend and wished him joy and good health in the years ahead.
