In a powerful show of strength and precision, Indian armed forces launched a major counter-terror operation in the early hours of May 7, targeting terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The strikes, spread across nine locations, eliminated over 80 terrorists affiliated with groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen.

The operation was carried out in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 innocent lives. Indian security agencies confirmed that the strikes were aimed at high-value terror hubs, including launch pads, training camps, and radicalisation centres. Significant hits were recorded in Bahawalpur and Muridke—infamous for being the ideological and operational bases of JeM and LeT, respectively.

In Muridke, the Indian forces specifically targeted the Masjid wa Markaz Taiba, a facility long linked with LeT’s activities. The response drew a wave of patriotic reactions from the cricketing fraternity. Former India cricketers Gautam Gambhir, Aakash Chopra, and Pragyan Ojha publicly lauded the armed forces.

All three took to social media to salute the men in uniform, with Gambhir posting a heartfelt “Jai Hind” message. KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy also showed his support, sharing a picture of ‘Operation Sindoor’—a code name for the mission—on Instagram.

The Indian Army later posted a brief but powerful message on social media platform X, stating, “Justice is served,” summarising the sentiment across the nation.

This precision operation is being hailed as one of the most extensive and coordinated counter-terror offensives in recent memory. While final casualty figures are still being verified, top security officials have pegged the death toll between 80 and 90. The strike sends a strong message that acts of terror will not go unanswered, and that India’s resolve to protect its people remains unshakable.
