India’s seamers continued their excellent form in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, running riot through the Sri Lankan batting lineup to help their team secure a resounding victory. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami were all in devastating form, reducing Sri Lanka to 3/4 in the first four overs of the chase.
Jasprit Bumrah struck in the very first delivery, trapping Patthum Nissanka in front of the stumps with a superb yorker. Siraj then followed up with a double-wicket maiden, dismissing Dimuth Karunaratne and Sameera Samarickwarma in quick succession. Mohammed Shami then joined the party, picking up the wicket of Charith Asalanka in his first over to leave Sri Lanka reeling at 14/5.

Sri Lanka never really recovered from the early setback, and they eventually ended up losing the match by a record margin of 302 runs. It was the biggest defeat ever in an ODI World Cup match for India, and it was a testament to the dominance of the Indian bowlers.
Earlier in the day, India had posted a mammoth total of 357 runs on the board, thanks to half-centuries from Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer. Gill was the top scorer with 92 runs, while Virat and Iyer contributed 88 and 92 runs respectively. Dilshan Madushanka was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers, picking up his maiden five-for. However, his efforts were in vain, as the Indian batsmen were simply too good on the day.

India’s victory over Sri Lanka was a dominant performance from start to finish. The bowlers were the stars of the show, and they picked up wickets at regular intervals. The batsmen also had a good day, but it was the bowlers who really made the difference.
Here is how the cricketing fraternity applauded the dominating performance of Team India:

India look like they’re on a relentless march towards their destiny.
Teams used to speak about playing Manchester United and being beaten by the time they got to the tunnel.
It’s the same feeling of inevitability with this India side.

I have heard stories of hostile bowling. I have myself faced a few. But honestly I have never seen a bowling attack this hostile and intimidating as India! Bumrah, Siraj and Shami are scaring opposition batsmen! Go India, win the World Cup #INDvSL
