It’s a night of euphoria in Bengaluru as Royal Challengers Bengaluru have finally etched their name on the IPL trophy. After 18 long seasons and three heartbreaking finals, RCB have broken the jinx, lifting their maiden IPL title with a thrilling 6-run win over Punjab Kings in the 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Defending a competitive 190, RCB held their nerve as they restricted Punjab Kings to 184/7 in a high-stakes thriller. The celebrations erupted the moment the final ball was bowled, as players, support staff, and fans in red rejoiced in unison — finally, the wait was over.

Earlier in the evening, RCB were sent in to bat by PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer. Phil Salt gave them a brisk start but was dismissed for 16 with the score at 18. Virat Kohli (43) and Mayank Agarwal (24) steadied the innings before Yuzvendra Chahal broke the partnership at 56. Kohli, batting fluently, looked set for a big one but perished in the 15th over, leaving RCB at 131.

Rajat Patidar contributed a handy 26, but it was the late fireworks from Liam Livingstone (25), Jitesh Sharma (24 off 10), and Romario Shepherd (17 off 9) that propelled RCB to 190. Arshdeep Singh impressed with the ball for PBKS, finishing with 3 wickets.

During the innings break, experts like Matthew Hayden and Michael Clarke believed RCB were 20–30 runs short on a flat surface. But as any experienced cricketer knows, finals have a pressure of their own, and runs on the board matter.

RCB’s bowlers, led by Josh Hazlewood and Krunal Pandya, brought discipline and heart to the field. Their tight spells and crucial breakthroughs ensured Punjab never really ran away with the chase. Tonight, Bengaluru celebrates like never before. RCB are no longer the nearly-men — they are IPL champions at last.
