Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that MS Dhoni will seek medical advice for his knee injury and the decision to undergo surgery will be entirely up to Dhoni himself. Dhoni, in his own words, has expressed his intention to return for another season of the IPL in 2024 as a gift to the fans, provided his body allows.
Throughout IPL 2023, the iconic captain played with a lingering injury to his left knee. While he displayed flawless wicket-keeping skills, his knee issues became apparent during his running between the wickets, which ultimately led to him batting lower in the order.

“Yes, it is true that Dhoni will be seeking medical advice for his left knee injury and he will make a decision accordingly. If surgery is recommended, that can only be determined after the reports are out; the final decision will be entirely his,” stated Kasi Viswanathan, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Chennai Super Kings etched their name in history by defeating the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. With a five-wicket victory over Gujarat, Chennai secured their fifth IPL title. Leading from the front, the 41-year-old MS Dhoni played a pivotal role in Chennai’s triumph.
Reflecting on the franchise’s celebration of their fifth IPL title, Viswanathan revealed that there were no extravagant festivities as Chennai Super Kings has never been known for grand celebrations. “He (Dhoni) is very happy, but there were no celebrations. The players dispersed to their respective destinations from Ahmedabad. Also, if you have observed CSK, we have never been big on celebrations,” CSK CEO mentioned.
