Chennai Super Kings opted for senior players in the auction of Indian Premier League 2018, which held on January 27-28 in Bengaluru. Kedar Jadhav, Faf du Plessis, Harbhajan Singh and MS Dhoni make the cut off for above 30 in the team.

Jadhav was CSK’s most expensive player, who is very handy bowler apart from being a finisher. Commenting on his selection in the team, Viswanathan said “Kedar’s slow bowling and batting abilities make him a great buy. We had decided before going into the auctions that we are going to go all out for these guys. We are very happy with the team we have got.”

CSK opted to bid for Harbhajan Singh and let Ravichandran Ashwin go, who was their main weapon during their prime years. The CEO revealed that it was MS Dhoni, who wants Bhajji in the team and the management didn’t disappoint him.

Bhajji himself is very happy to play along with Dhoni in the upcoming IPL. He feels youth is no guarantee of the win and nothing can replace experience in the team.

“Youth does not necessarily translate into matchwinning performances. There is no substitute for experience — we are players who have walked the difficult road and know how to deal with it,” he quoted.
