Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have donated 63 motorcycles worth approximately ₹1 crore to the Greater Chennai Traffic Police as part of the franchise’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The handover ceremony took place at the Police Commissionerate in Vepery, Chennai, on October 12, 2026, with officials formally flagging off the vehicles. Chennai Police Commissioner A. Amalraj and CSK Managing Director K.S. Viswanathan jointly conducted the ceremony, marking the official transfer of the motorcycles to the traffic department.

The donation aims to strengthen traffic management across Chennai by improving the mobility of police personnel. The motorcycles are expected to help officers conduct regular patrols, respond more efficiently to traffic-related issues, and enforce road safety regulations across the city.
The donated fleet comprises two motorcycle models selected to meet different operational requirements. Of the 63 vehicles, 38 are Honda Shine motorcycles, while the remaining 25 are Royal Enfield Bullets. Together, the vehicles are valued at close to ₹1 crore. The Honda Shine motorcycles are expected to help officers navigate congested streets and narrow roads more efficiently. Their commuter-friendly design makes them suitable for the stop-and-go traffic conditions commonly experienced in Chennai’s busy areas.

With both models included in the donation, the fleet is expected to support the department’s day-to-day operations across different parts of the city.

The motorcycle donation highlights CSK’s efforts to contribute to civic and community initiatives beyond their activities in the Indian Premier League (IPL). By supporting the traffic police, the franchise has directed its CSR efforts towards a public service that plays an important role in maintaining road safety and managing congestion.
Traffic management remains a significant challenge in a major city like Chennai, particularly during periods of increased movement and large public gatherings. The additional motorcycles could help officers manage these demands more effectively, including during busy periods associated with IPL matches.
