CSK Retain MS Dhoni, KL To Captain Lucknow In IPL 2022

The Indian Premier League 2021 champions Chennai Super Kings are all set to retain their talismanic skipper, MS Dhoni, for the next three years of the IPL. The mega-auction for the IPL 2022 is likely to be held in December and the franchisees are required to name their retained players by November 30.

MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings to their fourth IPL title during the IPL 2021 in the UAE. He wasn’t at his best which provoked the speculations of him not being retained by the franchise. But the owners of CSK are very clear that the first retained player will be MS Dhoni.

KL Rahul has parted ways with Punjab Kings after captaining the franchise for the last three seasons. According to the reports in The Indian Express, KL Rahul will be captaining Lucknow based franchise. He has been in sensational form with the bat in recent times and he may be picked by the newly inducted teams during the draft process.

According to The Indian Express, Chennai Super Kings are likely to retain Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad other than MS Dhoni. Both Jadeja and Gaikwad had a terrific season, where the opener ended up winning the orange cap after scoring the most number of runs.

CSK are also looking to retain Moeen Ali. The BCCI has confirmed the next season will be played in India and Moeen can be a good asset to cling upon. The dialogue is ongoing between the franchise and the England all-rounder. If Moeen Ali rejects to stay at the franchise, CSK might go for another England all-rounder in Sam Curran.

The franchisees are asked to submit the list of retained players by November 30. The mega-auction is likely to take place in December.
