Chennai Super Kings’ Daryl Mitchell stole the hearts of fans not only with his batting performance but also with a heartwarming gesture during their match against Punjab Kings on Sunday. While practising his powerful pull shots at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, one of Mitchell’s hits, unfortunately, flew over the safety netting and struck a young fan recording the session on his iPhone.

The impact not only damaged the phone but also left the fan with a minor injury. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the New Zealand batsman displayed remarkable sportsmanship. He personally approached the fan and presented him with a signed pair of his batting gloves, a gesture that instantly garnered praise on social media.

Cricket fans lauded Mitchell’s kindness and humility. Later in the match, Mitchell turned his attention to contributing on the field. He played a crucial knock of 30 runs from just 19 balls, propelling CSK to a competitive total of 167/9. Ravindra Jadeja top-scored for CSK with a blazing 43 runs off 26 deliveries.

In reply, Punjab Kings fell short of the target, managing only 139/9 in their allotted overs. Jadeja continued his impressive all-round performance, picking up three wickets for just 20 runs in his four overs. His outstanding display earned him the Player of the Match award.

With this victory, CSK solidified their position at number three on the points table, having won six and lost five out of their eleven matches. They will be back in action on Friday, May 10th, taking on the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
