Gujarat Titans (GT) batter, David Miller said the IPL 2022 season has been one of his most memorable stints in the Indian Premier League, and it has helped his team as well. Miller was one of the crucial cogs in helping Gujarat script history as they won the coveted crown in their maiden season. He had amassed 481 runs in 16 matches at a staggering strike rate of 142.73 for Gujarat Titans.

David Miller has scored in excess of 350 runs in 3 successive seasons from 2013 to 2015 but he failed to go past the 200-run mark only once in the next 6 years. He was bought for INR 3 crore by Gujarat Titans but not many would have expected the South African star to be the Most Valuable Player for the Titans. Miller did a phenomenal job as the finisher for GT, getting those runs at an average of close to 70.

During a recent interaction with Rashid Khan, David Miller said, “It’s been one of my most memorable seasons, just in terms of the team. As I have said so many times before, there have been so many contributors for the team throughout the competition. Obviously being the underdogs throughout the competition, it’s really nice to lift the trophy. Very, very memorable for me.”

David Miller was exceptional against spin and he took the attack to Rajasthan Royals’ spinners in the Qualifier 1 and Sunday’s final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While playing against spin, Miller had amassed 206 runs against spin and averaged in excess of 100 against spinners in IPL 2022. The South Africa star said he had worked tremendously hard on facing spin over the last 2-3 years and that he is delighted that it has paid off.

Explaining the same, David Miller said, “I started working hard. I have failed so many times, batting ni the middle order is difficult with the run rate and the fact that every situation is very different and give myself the best chance and stay calm. But what I have really enjoyed this season has been playing spin. I have been working really hard in the last 3-4 years against spin. I never really thought I had an issue but I changed 1 or 2 things and it worked. Very chuffed about that.”

Miller remained unbeaten 32 from just 19 balls on Sunday as Gujarat chased down a paltry target of 131 in just 18.1 overs to beat Rajasthan and lift the IPL 2022 trophy.
