David Warner, captain of Karachi Kings, found himself in an unexpectedly awkward moment during a recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) match that has since sparked conversation online. Ahead of Karachi’s league clash on April 21, a young and visibly excited fan approached Warner hoping for a warm greeting and perhaps a photo with the Australian star.

However, what he received instead was a rather cold fist bump, with Warner appearing distracted and unengaged. In the viral video, the child can be seen beaming with excitement, reaching out to shake Warner’s hand or get his attention.

But Warner, seemingly deep in thought or focused on the upcoming toss, offered a brief fist bump and remained still as the fan continued trying to connect. The moment passed quickly, but left many fans surprised given Warner’s usual reputation. Over the years, Warner has earned admiration for his friendly interactions with fans, particularly children.

From handing out gloves and bats to pausing for selfies, he’s often among the most approachable cricketers on the circuit. This brief moment, however, seemed out of character. So far in PSL 2025, the 38-year-old has scored 106 runs in five outings, including one fifty.

Under his leadership, Karachi Kings have enjoyed a decent run, winning three of their five games and currently sitting second on the points table. The Kings will now gear up to face Quetta Gladiators on Friday in their next fixture.
