Indian skipper Virat Kohli was felicitated by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Wednesday for scoring 50 international centuries during DDCA’s first annual Conclave.
Kohli received the mementos by former India spinner Bishan Singh Bedi for his fantastic performances. He smashed his Kohli hit his 50th international hundred at the Eden Gardens during the first Test against Sri Lanka. He followed that up with a double century in Nagpur, which was also his 19th Test ton and the 10th international century in 2017. Six of the ten centuries have come in ODIs while four have been in whites.
The previous best was Ricky Ponting and Graeme Smith with nine centuries. Besides, Virat equaled Sunil Gavaskar’s record for most centuries (11) as an Indian Test skipper. Not only that, it was his fifth double hundred, equalling Brian Lara, who also has five to his name.
In recent times, Kohli is on a rampaging run, as he is thrashing the opposition bowling attacks for fun. He toppled somewhat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, finishing the series with only 46 runs from three Test. He bounced back again with an unbeaten 103 against Sri Lanka in their backyard.
The Indian skipper is also the highest run-scorer in the ODIs in 2017, also has six centuries in the ODIs.
