Former India cricketer turned famous commentator Deep Dasgupta has shared his thoughts on the dismissal of India captain Virat Kohli on Day 4 of the second Test against England at Lord’s. However, his knock ended at 20 in the penultimate over just before lunch. And, the veteran said that Kohli would be disappointed with the way he got out.

Virat Kohli got out in the 23rd over when Sam Curran bowled a delivery wide outside off-stump and he played at it half-heartedly and the thin edge ended up landing in Jos Buttler’s hands as well. While speaking on BBC Radio’s Test Match Special program, Deep Dasgupta said Virat Kohli would be unimpressed with his shot selection which cost him the wicket as well.

The former player also shared that the ball was way outside off-stump and Kohli’s foot did not reach the line of the ball as well. “Virat Kohli won’t be happy with himself. That was really outside off stump, almost a fifth stump. His front foot did not reach the line of the ball and he’s feathered it. A huge wicket for Sam Curran for England. That is massive in the context of this Test,” Dasgupta said.

On the other hand, former England player and famous commentator David Lloyd also shared his views on the Indian captain for playing the wide delivery. While speaking to Sky Sports, Lloyd stated that Curran switched from round to over the wicket which helped him taking the wicket. “It’s significant. Almost a lap of honour [from Curran]. It’s outside, does Kohli have to play? No he doesn’t. He feels for it. Sam Curran was probing around the wicket but over the wicket has done the trick. He’s off on one!” Lloyd said.

However, before Kohli, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma got out as well which reduced them to 29/3. Later, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane steadied the ship and India took a lead of 154 runs before the stumps on Day 4.
