Gujarat Titans’ strong start in the IPL 2023 finals against the Chennai Super Kings was fueled by a power-packed performance, with Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha leading the charge. However, Deepak Chahar’s dropped catches prove costly as the duo takes full advantage, setting a powerplay run record.
In the opening stages, Deepak Chahar’s first drop came when Shubman Gill was at a mere score of 3 off Tushar Deshpande’s delivery. Chahar failed to grasp a straightforward catch at backward square leg, resulting in the ball hitting his wrist and rolling away.

The second missed opportunity occurred off Chahar’s own bowling, as Saha mistimed a shot and offered a catch back to the bowler. Chahar couldn’t hold onto the chance, allowing both Gill and Saha to capitalize on the reprieve and punish the CSK bowlers throughout the powerplay.

Chennai Super Kings eventually managed to break the partnership, courtesy of Ravindra Jadeja, who deceived Shubman Gill with a well-directed delivery outside the stumps. MS Dhoni exhibited his swift wicketkeeping skills, collecting the ball and dislodging the bails in an instant, bringing an end to the partnership.
