In the ongoing clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Deepak Hooda showcased his fielding prowess with a stunning catch to dismiss Daryl Mitchell. Following the early dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane in the first over, Mitchell, promoted to number three, joined Ruturaj Gaikwad to stabilize CSK’s innings.

However, Deepak Hooda’s brilliance in the field dashed Daryl Mitchell’s hopes of a substantial partnership. Despite looking settled, Mitchell’s innings came to an end in the final over of the powerplay.

Attempting a pull shot against Yash Thakur’s short delivery, Daryl Mitchell managed a decent connection but failed to keep the ball grounded. Initially appearing destined to clear Deepak Hooda at mid-wicket, the ball instead found the fielder, who executed a remarkable diving catch to secure LSG’s second breakthrough.

Daryl Mitchell departed after contributing 11 runs off 10 balls, adding pressure on him to perform with the bat as he has struggled to make significant contributions in the tournament so far. In six games, he has amassed 135 runs with a modest top score of 34 and a strike rate of 125.

Despite Daryll Mitchell’s challenges, he enjoys the unwavering support of the CSK team management. Head coach Stephen Fleming recently expressed confidence in Mitchell’s abilities, emphasizing the team’s emphasis on consistent contributions over individual accolades.
