Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed to stretch their unbeaten streak to 4 matches in a row in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. They comfortably chased down a tricky target of 178 runs with 10 wickets in hand and more than 3 overs to spare as Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal came down all guns blazing. RCB has once again reached the top of the IPL 2021 points table.

Padikkal and Kohli forged an unbeaten opening partnership of 181 runs with RCB captain remaining not out at 71 while young Karnataka opener smashed as many as 11 boundaries and six maximums to reach his maiden century in just 51 balls. Devdutt Padikkal started attacking the Rajasthan bowlers from the first over itself in their pursuit of 178 at the Wankhede Stadium, hitting twin boundaries against Shreyas Gopal.

Now, RCB has reached the top of the table now with 8 points from 4 games and will now be playing play their next match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Earlier in the game, Shivam Dube (46) and Rahul Tewatia (40) made sure that RR reach a fighting score of 177 for 9 after yet another familiar top-order no-show on a flat Wankhede track on Thursday.

Mohammed Siraj bowled a brilliant spell

Dube smashed a couple of sixes and five fours and with Riyan Parag (25 off 15 balls) giving him good support from the other end, added 66 runs for the fifth wicket. For RCB, Mohammed Siraj (3/27) got the crucial wicket of Jos Buttler (8) while Manan Vohra (7) failed again as Kyle Jamieson accounted for his wicket.

Siraj then unleashed a perfect toe-crusher to get the wicket of David Miller (0) as skipper Virat Kohli made a perfect call for DRS. Samson (21) started well but a six-off Washington Sundar was followed by his dismissal as he gave an easy catch at mid-wicket.

Dube smashed Yuzvendra Chahal (0/18 in 2 overs) hard as Kohli had to take his leg-spinner out of the attack. In the case of fast bowlers, he used the ramp shot when anything short was bowled on the off-stump channel. Meanwhile, Harshal Patel (3/47), the highest wicket-taker in the tournament (12 wickets), made an impact with the ball again even though he conceded some extra runs.
