On Sunday, former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni had decided to leave the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) training camp here following the suspension of the 13th edition of IPL till April 15 in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. Dhoni, who had arrived in Chennai for CSK’s preparatory camp early this month, left the base in front of his cheering fans.
Posting a short video on Twitter, describing the same, CSK wrote: “It has become your home, sir!’ Keep whistling, as #Thala Dhoni bids a short adieu to #AnbuDen”.

In the video, Dhoni was seen signing autographs and interacting with supporters. On Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL franchise owners held a meeting in Mumbai where they decided to follow the ‘wait and watch’ policy till closer to the end of the month. Only then will they decide on the next course of action with regard to the fate of the 13th edition of the IPL.

On Wednesday, the government had canceled all visas, except for a few official categories, till April 15 in the wake of the growing coronavirus scare across the nation. In the meeting held at Nirman Bhavan in Delhi a decision was made regarding all the existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/international organizations, employment and project visas, stand suspended till April 15.
The Sports Ministry also followed this up by clarifying that all sporting events should be canceled in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. And, if it is unavoidable, the events should be taking place behind closed doors so as to avoid mass gatherings.

There has been a lot of speculation over Dhoni’s international future ahead of this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia, with some speculating that his future will depend on his performance in the IPL 13.
