The flamboyant Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant, who is currently leading the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) is celebrating his 24th birthday on Monday. 2021 has been one that could define Pant’s career as he cemented his place in Team India across the formats.
His audacious approach towards batting, particularly in Test cricket, along with his improvement as a wicketkeeper this year has made Pant one of the first names on Team India’s teamsheet, regardless of the format. A number of former players and teammates posted birthday wishes for Rishabh Pant on his special day.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik had a funny piece of ‘advice’ to give fellow glovemen on what to do when Pant is batting. Tweeting about the same, Dinesh Kartik wrote: “Happiest birthday to the one and only @RishabhPant17. An advice to all keepers, stay a foot away from the stump when he’s batting.”

IN 2019 and 2020, Rishabh Pant witnessed a poor batting form and it barred him to cement his place in the Indian team. He was initially not touted to be a part of the playing XI for the Australia tour until Wriddhiman Saha got injured. Pant ended up being India’s highest run scorer in the series, famously scoring an unbeaten 89 to lead India to a historic win at the Gabba in the last Test.

His performances for the team also led to him becoming captain of the DC in the IPL 2021 when Shreyas Iyer suffered a shoulder injury. While Iyer returned for the second half of the season, DC decided to stick with Pant and he has since led them to a place in the playoffs this season.
