The equation came down to 15 needed off the final over — and that’s when Yash Dayal stepped up under pressure. Entrusted with the final over, Dayal showcased nerves of steel.

Despite a couple of low full tosses to start, which CSK couldn’t capitalise on, the tension rose when he trapped MS Dhoni LBW and followed it up with a high full toss no-ball that Shivam Dube dispatched into the stands. With 6 needed off the final 3 balls, Dayal held his nerve and closed the game with three well-directed deliveries, sealing a dramatic two-run win for RCB.

Post-match, RCB batting coach Dinesh Karthik was effusive in his praise for Dayal’s composure. “It takes a massive heart to defend in such a pressure situation. Yash has been very diligent in his preparations. He comes to meetings with notes, works hard on execution, and never shies away from effort,” said Karthik. He also highlighted how the left-armer has a rare ability to absorb pressure — a quality that made RCB retain him.
