The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has finally got going as none of the teams are looking weak. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament has come as a breath of fresh air for the fans who have been largely confined to their homes in 2020 since March. The same was the case with most of the players due to lockdown enforced in their respective nations and mainstream cricket only resumed in July in England.
Caribbean Premier League (CPL) followed the IPL is currently in progress in the UAE in a bio-secure bubble. However, during the lockdown, the players changed their look with most of them sporting a stylish beard. With the IPL in progress, Break the Beard challenge has once again been promoted by the players and it all started with Mumbai Indians’ Kieron Pollard taking it up.

Ahead of the game against Rajasthan Royals (RR), he posted a picture of his new look to leave the fans in frenzy. While Dinesh Karthik is looking cool in his new look, his on-field performance is nothing but a disappointment. A few of his decisions this IPL season so far have come under the scanner. To make things worse, his own batting form is also going downhill and he had face the backlash for coming out to bat ahead of Eoin Morgan in the while chasing a humongous target of more than 220 in Sharjah against Delhi Capitals.

Chasing 229, Karthik came out to bat at five scoring only 6 off 8 balls while Morgan came after him and played a brilliant knock to take KKR close to the target. Even Pat Cummins was sent ahead of the specialist batsman Rahul Tripathi who played some outrageous shots in the death overs. Many are also questioning Dinesh Karthik’s decision to keep Sunil Narine as an opener despite his consistent failures.
The KKR skipper and the management will be looking to find apt solutions to all these issues ahead of their game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday.
