Rachin Ravindra’s comeback to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) playing XI was short-lived, thanks to a sensational throw from David Miller in their ongoing clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Ravindra, who last played for CSK on April 19th, was recalled for this crucial match.

However, his return proved forgetful, lasting just two balls as he was run out for a single in the very first over. The dismissal unfolded on the final delivery of Umesh Yadav’s opening over. Ajinkya Rahane defended the ball and attempted a quick single.

Rachin Ravindra, responding to the call, set off for the run but was caught short thanks to Miller’s heroics. Diving full length from backward point, Miller collected the ball and unleashed a pinpoint underarm throw that rattled the stumps, leaving Ravindra stranded.

At the time of writing, CSK find themselves in a precarious position at 66/3 after 8 overs. They were in dire straits earlier, slumping to 10/3 before Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali provided some much-needed stability. Both batsmen are currently well-set, and CSK will be hoping they can build a strong foundation.

Earlier, GT posted a mammoth 231/3 on the board after opting to bat first. Openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan played a magnificent partnership, amassing a staggering 210 runs for the first wicket. Gill contributed 104 runs, while Sudharsan fell just short of his own century, scoring a brilliant 103.

CSK are desperately in need of a victory to solidify their playoff chances. Currently sitting in fourth place with six wins and five losses, a loss wouldn’t necessarily eliminate them from contention. However, it would significantly complicate their qualification scenario. GT, on the other hand, are all but out of the playoff race and will be aiming to spoil CSK’s party.
