The day three of the ongoing fourth Test between the hosts England and the visitors India at The Rose Bowl (Southampton) was also very entertaining and it has set all the materials for another exciting day four of the Test series. The hosts are currently looking to put a challenging fourth innings target for the 2-1 series trailing visitors.
England began the day three on their overnight score 6/0. In the early morning, England lost their opener Alastair Cook (12) and no.3 batsman Moeen Ali (9) quickly. However, another English opener Keaton Jennings and the skipper Joe Root put a 59-run partnership for the third wicket that helped them to come out from the early tough situation.
Jennings (36) lost his wicket on the last ball before the lunch break while Jonny Bairstow (0) followed him on the very first ball of the second session of the day that led Indian pacer Mohammed Shami to put himself on a hat-trick but soon he failed to achieve it.
While Root was looking to complete his much-needed half-century, he was unfortunately run out on 48 runs after a brilliant throw by Shami. Then two more back-to-back 50+ partnerships were provided by the next partners Jos Buttler & Ben Stokes (56 runs partnership) and Jos Buttler & Sam Curran (55 runs partnership).
While the wicketkeeper Buttler played a brilliant knock of 69 runs off 122 balls with 7 fours, Stokes scored 30 runs and Curran remained not out at the end of the day with 37 runs. Adil Rashid scored 11 runs before getting caught behind on the last ball of the day. At the stumps on day three, England was batting on 260/8 and leading by 233 runs.
Indian pacer Mohammed Shami (3/53) dismissed three English batsmen while another pacer Ishant Sharma (2/36) got two wickets. Also, another pacer Jasprit Bumrah (1/51) and the off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (1/78) picked up one wicket each.

- English cricketer Jonny Bairstow scored another golden duck in this Test series as he has scored two golden ducks in this Test series. According to the record books reach, Bairstow is only the second English batsman to achieve multiple golden ducks in a Test series against India. English cricketer James Anderson had also played two golden ducks in a Test series against India during England tour in India 2016/17.
