The day 2 started on time but the first session lasted for just 6.3 overs as the rain interrupted the remaining period. In that time, India was batting on 11/2 as both the openers Murali Vijay (0) and KL Rahul (8) were dismissed by the English pacer James Anderson.

The second session of the day only ran for just two overs as India was batting 15/3 in 8.3 overs before another rain interruption. On the last ball of that session, Cheteshwar Pujara (1) lost his wicket after a poor mix-up with the captain Virat Kohli.

The third session finally observed a proper cricket where the Indian batting was totally disrupted by the lethal English bowlers. Skipper Virat Kohli (23) was the first man to dismiss in that session as the comeback pacer Chris Woakes trapped him beautifully to get caught at the second slip. India was finally bundled out for just 107 runs as Ravichandran Ashwin scored the highest runs in that innings and that was only 29. Only Kohli and Ashwin reached the 20-run mark in that innings.
