On Thursday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest rankings for the ODIs and according to that, England is still leading the charts with India following them. There were not many changes in the list though and the rankings made quite a realistic reflection of the standings that the teams have in world cricket. Nepal was ranked 15th in the list.
England, who will be hosting this year’s ICC World Cup and they were leading with 126 ratings while India was at 121 ratings. Virat Kohli and his men recently won three back-to-back bilateral ODI series, two of which came overseas. They won their first bilateral ODI series against Australia 2-1 and are leading the five-match series against New Zealand 3-1 at the moment.
The Black Caps though thrashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in a home series before losing to India, their 111 ratings were equaled by South Africa who defeated Pakistan 3-2 in a closely fought ODI series at home. The Kiwis are still standing at the third position owing to 29 points lead over the Proteas.

Pakistan was ranked fifth after South Africa but they have been without a strong win since decimating Zimbabwe 5-0 last July and would be looking forward to making some gains in the upcoming ODIs against Australia and England ahead in the run-up to the World Cup.
Australia, the defending World champions, have had a poor run in the ODIs and are ranked sixth in the ICC’s table now. They haven’t won a bilateral ODI series since defeating Pakistan 4-1 at home in 2016-17 and were humbled by South Africa and India in two consecutive home series recently. If the Aussies fail to improve their games soon, Bangladesh, who are ranked next with 93 ratings – seven short of Australia – could give them a good challenge.
The next teams that feature in the ICC’s top 15 are Sri Lanka (8), Windies (9), Afghanistan (10), Zimbabwe (11), Ireland (12), Scotland (13), UAE (14) and Nepal (15).
