England has won their second warm-up game of the Ashes tour Down Under by 192 runs against Cricket Australia XI on Saturday. The day-night four-day game commenced on November 8, which was a preparation match for the second Ashes Test. It is notable that both teams will play first ever Day-Night Ashes Test in Adelaide from December 2.

The match started with a bad news for England as lanky pacer Steven Finn was ruled out of the series following an injury to the knee. However, the start of the proceeding was not pleasing for them either as Cricket Australia XI bowled them for 293 in 95 overs. Joe Root, David Malan and Mark Stoneman were the anchors of this innings with respective half-centuries.

Despite an average batting show, English bowlers were in some other mood and reduced their opponents to 233/9, where hosts declared their first innings. Thus, England received crucial 60-run lead post first two innings of the match. Meanwhile, Jake Ball injured his ankle while bowling just his fourth over.

England’s misery with the bat didn’t end here as CA XI dismissed them for 207, where Mark Stoneman confirmed his opener’s berth with another fifty. English bowlers had a total of 268 to defend and they battered their first innings’ efforts and demolished Cricket Australia XI at just 75 in 41 overs. James Anderson, Chris Woakes, and Craig Overton shared all ten wickets between them.

The visitors will play another game before heading into Ashes, but first, they have to find a right batting combination. The pace attack of CA XI was rather inexperienced in comparison to a lethal Aussie line-up. From now on, England will try to find a suitable tune for their batting line-up which can face Starc and Hazelwood in their own den.
