Faf du Plessis looked in superb form in his first match as the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against Punjab Kings. The South African batter had a watchful start as he played the anchor role alongside Anuj Rawat who opened the batting with him. However, Faf didn’t waste much time in changing gears after Virat Kohli arrived at the crease as he started taking the Punjab bowling apart.

However, Faf du Plessis smashed an audacious scoop shot in the 12th over. The incident occurred during the fifth ball of the over when the RCB skipper scooped Odean Smith handsomely over fine-leg for a massive six. Odean Smith bowled a full toss on leg stump but Faf walked across and scooped the ball with disdain reminding RCB fans of AB de Villiers.

RCB lost only two wickets in their entire innings with Anuj Rawat (21), Virat Kohli (41*), and Dinesh Karthik (32* off 14) contributing to the total. They managed to score the season’s first 200+ total and posted 205 runs on the board in their quota of 20 overs. PBKS struggled with the ball and they also conceded a lot of extras in their innings as well.
