WATCH – Faf Du Plessis Compares David Miller to “MSD”

During the second ODI match between South Africa and Sri Lanka where South Africa posted a total of 251 with the class knock by their wicket-keeper Quinton De Cock who missed his 14th ODI century just by 6 runs and captain Faf Du Plessis scored another 57  patiently. However, South Africa sealed back to back victories against the Lankans by winning the second match by 113 runs.

When Sri Lanka were 9 wickets down with 135 runs on board after the 31st over was bowled by Kagiso Rabada, De Cock pulled of his wicket keeping gloves and walked to the dressing room as he was tired while he batted almost for 21 overs.

South Africa required only one wicket to wrap the match and from there David Miller who usually fields at the long-on and long-off positions took over the gloves to keep behind the wickets. Miller kept only for 8 deliveries when Imran Tahir was bowling the 32nd over to Vishwa Fernando where he happened to miss the ball and Miller took a chance of stumping the batsman and appealed for it.

The decision was not out but, Du Plessis the South African skipper did not stop himself from teasing Miller by the name of MS Dhoni under whose leadership Du Plessis plays in the Chennai Super Kings. It turned a funny moment where Imran Tahir also laughed on Miller being called “MSD” by his skipper.

Even in the post-match presentation when De Cock(man of the match) was asked on Miller’s keeping, to that he replied ” I am working on him (Miller) and will make him a better ‘keeper one day.

South Africa take a 2-0 lead 

The Proteas bowling unit did not allow the Lankan batsmen to settle where not a single partnership crossed above 50, Kagiso Rabada who led the bowling attack was the highest wicket-taker with figures of 3/43 in 9 overs and Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje and Imran Tahir picked 2 wickets each to dismantle Srilanka’s innings and continue the lead with  2-0 in the series.  The 3rd ODI will be played at Duban on March 10, Sunday.
