In a thrilling encounter between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Faf du Plessis showcased his brilliance with a stunning catch to dismiss Ayush Badoni. Facing pressure after two unsuccessful deliveries, Badoni opted for a big shot against a slower bouncer from Yash Dayal.

Unfortunately for Badoni, his choice of shot didn’t match the delivery’s pace and trajectory. Attempting to clear the extra covers, he couldn’t generate enough power, and the ball seemed destined for a safe landing. However, du Plessis had other plans. The RCB skipper swiftly sprinted backwards and executed a spectacular dive to secure the catch with both hands, maintaining control even after hitting the ground.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants concluded their innings with a competitive total of 181/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Quinton de Kock spearheaded LSG’s batting onslaught, crafting his second consecutive IPL half-century in 2024. His stellar 81 off 56 deliveries, embellished with eight fours and five sixes, laid a solid foundation for a formidable total.

Although KL Rahul (20) and Marcus Stoinis (24) got promising starts, they couldn’t capitalize on them, while Devdutt Padikkal’s struggle continued with a meagre contribution of 6 runs. Towards the end, Nicholas Pooran’s unbeaten 40 off 21 deliveries propelled LSG to a commanding total beyond the 180-run mark.

In response, RCB commenced their innings positively, reaching 36 for no loss after four overs. With aspirations for their second victory in four matches this season, the Bengaluru-based franchise aims to chase down the target set by LSG, who themselves seek their second win in three games.
