Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis provided insights into the team’s mindset ahead of their crucial encounter against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2024. Set to lock horns in their final league match on May 18, both teams are vying for a playoff berth. Du Plessis expressed optimism, highlighting RCB’s recent form.
“We’ve been doing really well for the last couple of weeks. So, we’re really looking forward to the game tomorrow,” Du Plessis remarked in a video shared by RCB.
Discussing the prospect of playing in front of their home crowd, he emphasized the significance of the occasion.
“It’d be a great occasion, honestly, at home, in front of our fans, there will also be a lot of yellow fans but it’s gonna be a great occasion. But yeah, we are just nice and calm and relaxed and looking forward to the game,” added the Bengaluru skipper.

Addressing the perennial rumors surrounding MS Dhoni’s retirement, Fa du Plessis maintained a pragmatic stance. “People have been talking about MS retiring for six years so it doesn’t really change. The conversation is about what we do in our team,” he concluded. Reflecting on RCB’s remarkable resurgence after enduring six consecutive defeats, Du Plessis expressed pride in the team’s turnaround.
“We’re just proud of the way we’ve turned things around…it’s nothing short of remarkable. To be the only team that has won five in a row in this competition. For me, I’m extremely proud of that,” he acknowledged.
Expressing excitement for the upcoming showdown, Faf du Plessis highlighted the team’s confidence heading into the match.

He explained, “Also leading in tomorrow (Saturday), I’m also excited about the opportunity that how we are playing our cricket towards the end of the competition and you know, fingers crossed, weather is good and we keep playing the style of cricket we wanna play.”
CSK currently holds a favorable position in the IPL standings, poised to secure a playoff berth with a win or no-result. Conversely, RCB must clinch a significant victory to enhance their playoff prospects, making the upcoming clash a high-stakes encounter.
