Faheem Ashraf Test Covid-19 Positive, Ruled Out Of The Second Test

Pakistan batter Faheem Ashraf has tested positive for Covid-19 after he was tested in Karachi as he arrived with the team to get ready for the second Test match against Australia which is scheduled to be commencing on Saturday. However, Faheem Ashraf is now ruled out of the second Test match of the three-match series.

Faheem Ashraf had missed the first opening game of the series against Australia in Rawalpindi because of a fitness issue and now is forced in isolation because of Covid-19 for five days. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a statement has said that if required, they will be announcing a replacement for Ashraf.

The Australian team has also arrived in Karachi as they look to prepare for the second Test match. The first Test match between the two teams ended in a draw. For Pakistan, Imam-ul-Haq has looked in top form as he scored centuries in both innings but the match ended in a draw. It will be interesting to see how both teams go strategize against each other in the upcoming Test match.

Australia is on the Pakistan tour after a huge gap of 28 years for three Tests as many ODIs followed by a solitary T20I. However, the first Test match resulted in a draw as the pitch was a batting paradise. Pakistan posted 476 for the loss of 4 wickets and then declared the innings. On the other hand, Australia retaliated with 459 on the board. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labusschagne scored 97 and 90 runs respectively.

In the second innings, Pakistan scored 252 runs on the board without losing a wicket before the match ended in a draw. Pakistan openers namely Abdullah Shafique scored 136 runs while Imam-ul-Haq had 111 runs. Imam-ul-Haq was named the Man of the Match for his supreme batting masterclass.
