Former Indian opener, Wasim Jaffer is currently featuring in the India Maharajas team in the opening season of the Legends League Cricket 2022. It has been a treat for the fans to watch Jaffer coming back to the cricketing action. India Maharajas locked horns with  Asia Lions in Muscat on Monday and the former had bowled first after winning the toss.

Asia Lions posted a formidable score of 193 for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Upul Tharanga was the highest run-etter as he played a match-winning knock of 72 off 45 balls including 7 fours and 4 sixes. Asghar Afghan scored an unbeaten 69 off 28 balls with the help of 4 fours and 7 hits over the fence at an imperious strike rate of 246.43.

On the other hand, Amit Bhandari managed to take a couple of wickets for India Maharajas. In reply, India Maharajas lost Naman Ojha early on in the innings. The right-handed wicket-keeper batter managed to score just 4 off 8 balls.

However, the team found some support in the form of Wasim Jaffer. The right-handed batsman led the batting attack for example. Fans witnessed the vintage version of Jaffer as he managed to play quite a few boundaries as well.

Wasim Jaffer took the Asia Lions’ bowling attack to the cleaners as he went on to smash seven boundaries and it was different from his usual defensive approach.. However, he didn’t last long as he ended up scoring 35 off 25 balls. While he was on song, M Rafique dismissed him in the first ball of the 8th over as Shoaib Akhtar took a good catch.

Notably, Jaffer was a terrific Indian cricketer during his heydays. He used to open for Team India in the longest format. The veteran is still the highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy. He had a tremendous domestic career where he scored more than 12000 runs. He made an impact by scoring a triple hundred in his second game in the domestic circuit. It helped him earn a Test cap in 2000 in the home series against South Africa.
